This policy applies to every rental from Crowder Rentals LLC (formerly A&J Time Rentals), whether you order online at crowderrentals.com, by phone, or at our counter at 11401 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. It works together with our Damage Waiver & Card on File, Delivery & Pickup and Terms of Service pages, and with the Rental Agreement you accept when you place your order, which is the binding version.
Who can rent
- Renters must be at least 18 years old and present a valid government-issued driver’s license or ID.
- Rentals are normally paid with a credit or debit card in the renter’s name. We may accept cash or a check at our discretion. Businesses may apply for on-account billing; see Business accounts below.
- Delivery orders require, at checkout, a valid driver’s license for the person who will receive the equipment. Pickup orders show ID at the counter.
- Only you, or competent adults you authorize (such as your employees), may operate the equipment, and you are responsible for them and their training. Operators of powered equipment are expected to have experience with that class of machine. Our staff will review the controls with you, but we do not provide operator training and may decline a rental if we believe the equipment cannot be used safely.
Rental periods and rates
- Rates are published for 4 hours, a day, a week and a 4-week period; there are no hourly rates. The shortest rental is 4 hours. Trailers have a 24-hour minimum and day, week and 4-week rates only. A rental that runs past 4 hours is charged the day rate, and the booking calendar applies the lowest tier that fits when you choose your times.
- The online booking calendar prices your exact start and end time and applies the lowest applicable tier for that duration. A day is a 24-hour period from the start time you reserve.
- Time counts from the reserved start until the equipment is checked in at our yard or collected by our driver, including hours the yard is closed. We are closed Sundays; a Saturday pickup returned Monday morning is charged for the full time out, including Sunday.
- Rental charges are for time out, not time used. Weather, scheduling changes and equipment left idle are still rental time. If a job is rained out, call us and we will do what we can.
- Extensions must be arranged before the return time by calling (303) 423-7448. Equipment kept past the reserved return is charged at the applicable rate for the additional time — there is no separate late penalty. We allow 30 minutes of grace: equipment checked in no more than 30 minutes after the end of a rate period is charged for that period. Equipment not returned may be reported as unreturned.
What is included and what is extra
- Equipment leaves fueled, serviced and inspected, with the standard bucket, wand, nozzles or bits listed on the product page.
- Fuel: our diesel equipment — tow-behind air compressors, Toro Dingos, skid steers and mini excavators — goes out full and should come back full. Diesel used and not replaced is charged at return. Gasoline-powered equipment carries no fuel charge at all: we refuel it ourselves between rentals. Propane cylinders are exchanged or refilled at the counter.
- Consumables — diamond blades, sandpaper, grinding discs, cleaning solution, cutting teeth — are sold separately or rented by the day where noted. Blades and bits are inspected at return and charged for excessive wear or breakage.
- Trailers rent with the coupler, safety chains and lights. Ball mounts, ramps, straps and chains are separate rental items.
- The 13% damage waiver is added to every rental as one line on the order. It is optional: you can decline it at pickup by providing insurance that covers rented equipment and lists Crowder Rentals LLC as loss payee. Approved business accounts can keep a certificate of that insurance on file instead. See Damage Waiver & Card on File.
- Colorado and local sales tax (currently 8% in Wheat Ridge) applies to rental charges, the damage waiver and items sold. Delivery charges are not taxed.
Ordering, payment and cancellations
- Online: reservations can be made for any time we’re open, up to 60 days ahead. If your rental starts within 24 hours, we recommend calling (303) 423-7448 after you book to confirm it’s ready. At checkout we save your card and place an authorization for the estimated total. Nothing is charged until the rental goes out.
- At the counter: walk in any time we are open. We write up your order, you read and sign the rental agreement on the screen at the counter, or on a printed copy if the screen is not working, and you normally pay with your card on our card reader before the equipment goes out. The card you use becomes your card on file. For a reservation on a later date, by phone or at the counter, we save your card when you book or before the rental goes out, and nothing is charged until then. If we deliver a phone order, our driver brings the agreement for you to sign.
- When your card is charged: when the equipment goes out — at pickup or when we deliver — for what is actually due. Any unused part of an authorization is released. There is no separate deposit hold.
- Paying at return: for any rental, we may agree that you pay when it comes back. Then nothing is charged or authorized, and no card is saved, when it goes out. You pay everything owed in one payment at return. If you cannot pay then, we still check the equipment in, and the balance stays due on your order; please pay it within 7 days.
- Later charges: extra time, diesel fuel, cleaning, damage the waiver doesn’t cover, delivery trips and items you add go to your card on file, each with an itemized receipt. See Damage Waiver & Card on File.
- Changes and cancellations: to change or cancel, call (303) 423-7448. There is no cancellation fee, and we do not charge for a missed pickup — but please call, so we can put the unit back on the board for the next customer.
Your responsibilities
- Use the equipment only for its intended purpose, within its rated capacity, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s safety instructions and all laws and permits.
- Do not sublet the equipment or take it outside Colorado without our written permission.
- Keep the equipment secure. You are responsible for loss or theft during the rental; report either to us and to the police immediately.
- Stop using any equipment that malfunctions and call us. Do not attempt repairs. We will repair or replace the unit as quickly as we can; rental time is credited for confirmed mechanical failures not caused by misuse.
- Return the equipment clean and in the condition it left. Normal dirt is expected and free. If a unit comes back with caked mud, cured concrete, paint or debris that takes real work to clean, a cleaning fee of up to $200 applies. We look at it with you at return, or, if our driver collected it, tell you what we found before we charge, so it never turns up as a surprise.
- Trailers: you are responsible for towing within your vehicle’s rating, checking lights and tire pressure during the rental, and any damage caused by overloading, curbing or backing.
Returns
- Return to the yard during business hours, Monday–Saturday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, and check in with staff — a rental is not closed until we have inspected the unit. Do not leave equipment in the lot after hours without prior arrangement.
- For delivered equipment, have it ready and accessible at the agreed pickup time. Shut it down, leave the keys as instructed, and make sure our driver can reach it.
- After inspection we close the rental and email your receipt. Any diesel, cleaning, damage or extra-time charges are itemized and charged to your card on file, or included in your payment at return. Before we charge for damage or cleaning, we tell you what we found and how much it is, with photos when we have them, and give you 2 business days to respond.
Business accounts
Contractors and businesses that rent regularly can apply for on-account billing. Approved accounts receive monthly statements, can authorize employees to pick up, and can charge rentals to a purchase order. If you have a card on file with us, we charge it only if you ask us to, or if a statement is more than 30 days past due. Ask at the counter or email us to apply; approval is subject to credit review.
If a charge is declined
We will contact you. Please give us another payment method and pay what is due within 7 days. We may decline new reservations until the balance is paid.
Questions
Call (303) 423-7448 or email [email protected]. We would rather answer a question before a rental than sort out a problem after it.
